Economy
The Town of Powerview-Pine Falls is
located on the Winnipeg River, approximately 135 kilometers
northeast of Winnipeg. Pine Falls and the surrounding communities
are largely economically dependent on Tembec, Pine Falls Operation.
The paper mill is owned by Tembec Paper Group and produces newsprint
for markets in Canada and the Midwest U.S. It employs over 400
people at its operation and an additional 600+ through contract
primarily in the areas of forest renewal, harvesting and
transportation. Over $225 million has been spent on recent
technological and environmental upgrades and the mill is Manitoba’s
largest recycler of old newspapers and magazines. Tembec generates
about $100 million to the provincial economy annually. Powerview - Pine Falls’s economy has a mixed industrial base. Industries in the area include Tembec, the hospital in Pine Falls, the district offices of Manitoba Hydro and Conservation, MTS and small businesses. Powerview-Pine Falls has zoned developed sites and a commercial business area.

The unspoiled, natural
environment provides the outdoor enthusiast with many
opportunities. The community offers boating, sailing, swimming, hunting,
snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, hiking and much, much more. The
community of Pine Falls offers its residents a library, ice arena,
curling rink, bowling alley, heated outdoor swimming pool, baseball
diamonds, groomed snowmobile and cross-country trails, tennis and an
nine-hole golf course. Pine Falls is home to the Canadian Walleye
Championship held in October of each year. The 4P Festival held each Labour Day Weekend recognized the contributions of “Paper, Pea,
