Economy
The R.M. of Reynolds includes the communities
of Richer East, Ste. Rita, Molson, Rennie, Hadashville, Spruce
Sidings, Medika, Prawda, McMunn and East Braintree.
The economy in the R.M. of
Reynolds consists mainly of agriculture and natural resources. The
Pineland Forest Nursery, located in Hadashville comprises
an area of about 128 hectares (315 acres). It produces coniferous
planting stock for reforestation of Crown lands, Christmas tree
growing and farm wood lots. The Manitoba Forestry Association
Training Centre is also in the R.M.
Sun Gro Horticulture, north of
Hadashville, mines sphagnum moss. Also called peat moss, sphagnum
moss is a naturally occurring mineral. Sun Gro extracts or mines the
moss from the ground. They annually mine approximately two million
bales, 10 cubic feet each, from Elma and North Julius, north of
Beausejour.
Berger Peat Moss has recently constructed a plant to process peat in the
Hadashville area.

The Alf Hole Goose Sanctuary
Visitor Centre at Rennie has displays on the history of the
sanctuary and the biology of Canada geese. A self-guiding trail
leads to remote parts of the sanctuary. Best times to visit are
mid-May to July when goslings are present with their parents, and
late August to October when over 1,000 geese are staging for fall
migration. The R.M. of Reynolds is close to Whiteshell Provincial
Park and all of its year round facilities and activities. There are
many lakes and waterways including the Whitemouth, Boggy,
Brokenhead, Rennie, and Birch Rivers and Reynolds Ponds (Great
fishing!). The Manitoba Forestry Association also provides a museum
and hiking trail. There are skating rinks at Ste. Rita and one in
Rennie. The R.M. has a community club in Prawda. Hadashville has
a community hall - recreational centre. Other
recreational activities include camping, canoeing, fishing,
cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
