The North Eastman region of
Manitoba is a wonderful place to call home. From the warmth of the
people to the breathtaking beauty of the area, you can have all the
advantages of rural living without missing many of the amenities of
urban living. Our communities are safe, clean, and friendly, there
are abundant recreational and cultural activities, and excellent
health care facilities. We have modern educational facilities, a low
crime rte, and reasonably priced housing ranging from starter units
to luxury homes.
Emergency Services
Ambulance and fire-fighting
service to the area All North Eastman communities have ambulance and
fire-fighting service at their disposal. Many communities such as
Lac du Bonnet, Beausejour, Pine Falls and Pinawa have their own
ambulance service. Many of the same communities have a fire hall in
their own town.
Community policing The
RCMP is widely used for community policing throughout the region,
but community programs also reinforce the safety of the area. The
COPs(Citizens on Patrol) program serves the RM of Springfield, RM of Alexander, the Town
of Lac du Bonnet and the LGD of Pinawa. The First Nations and
northern communities have a Community Constable. There is also Rural
Crime Watch in the RM of St. Clements. If you want to learn more

Health & Community Hospitals
Pinawa Hospital, Beausejour District Hospital and the Whitemouth
District Health Complex provide excellent service to most of the
Eastman region. The Pine Falls Health Complex serves the northern
region and the 5 hospitals in Winnipeg, the Selkirk hospital and
Steinbach’s Bethesda hospital ensures all the needs of the area are
met.
Personal Care Homes and
Community Daycares
The
North Eastman Health Authorityprovides
for the communities without personal care homes. All communities
have access to a local daycare.
Medical clinics
Not only are there many medical clinics throughout the region, some
communities such as Beausejour, Lac du Bonnet and Pine Falls have
several clinics (see individual communities). Seymourville and
Bisset have nursing staff that visit weekly.
Handi-Van service
Most of the region has Handi-van service (see individual
communities).
Education
Families of the North Eastman region are ensured of access to quality
education through the wide network of schools throughout the area.
Almost every community has schooling from kindergarten through to
grade 12 located in their own town. Lac du Bonnet, Beausejour and
Pine Falls also have continuing education programs for mature
students. French immersion schooling is available in several
communities, such as St. Georges and Beausejour. For details of the

Local Events and Festivals Year round, the North Eastman region offers
entertainment to tourists and locals alike. For example,
Beausejour hosts the annual Canadian Power Toboggan Championships in
the first weekend in March. Almost every community has July 1st
Canada Day Celebrations and you can find the 4P Festival in the RM

Outdoor Recreation
Although the winter may seem chilly to some, it is
welcomed by the sportsman who enjoy snow-mobiling, cross-country
skiing, skating, ice-fishing, curling and more. In the month of
February, Pinawa has a Winter Festival and Annual Manitoba Loppet
(cross-country skiing) and Lac du Bonnet hosts the Annual Ice
Fishing Challenge.
In the summertime, the
spectacular beauty of the Whiteshell,
Nopiming and Atikaki Provincial Parks draws tourists, campers and
cottagers to the region. Whether you want to canoe, golf,
bird-watch, fish or simply lay on a beautiful beach, tour
communities have something for everyone.

Indoor Recreation Facilities
All of the North Eastman
communities profiled have at least one community center to host
activities in, and most communities also have arenas. Most notable
is the Brokenhead River Recreation Complex in Beausejour because it
is the third largest indoor convention facility in Manitoba.
Beausejour is also the home of the Sun Gro Centre which ranks as one
of the major Sportsplex facilities of this province.

Recreational, Service & Cultural Outlets &
Facilities
The North Eastman region has a rich history that you can step into at the
Brokenhead Pioneer Village Museum in Beausejour, at the Cooks Creek
Heritage Museum or Dugald Costume Museum in the RM of Springfield.
You can also visit Manitoba Glass Works Historic Site located on the
outskirts of Beausejour or the Cenotaph Memorial Parish war memorial
in Garson. Examples of service and cultural outlets in Eastman
communities are the Pinawa Public Library and the use of their
community center as their Theatre Group home. See individual

There are many places for people in the
North Eastman area to socialize through their favorite activities, hobbies
and ideas. You can find clubs and organizations for every age
ranging from sports, support groups, community-planning, cultural

Accommodations available to visitors of the community & Meeting
Facilities
Due to the region’s popularity with
tourists, all of the Eastman communities have at least one hotel for
visitors to stay at. Meeting facilities for a group up to 200 people
can be accommodated in every community, although some such as the
Brokenhead River Recreation Complex in Beausejour can hold a group
