Beausejour is largely
considered to be the service center of Eastern Manitoba, with over a
hundred of its businesses serving the entire region. It is also the
second largest grain delivery point in the province, indicating the
importance of agriculture to the area. Beausejour has an excellent
recycling program and recently developed an Industrial Park, which
is zoned as light industrial or “M1”.
Beausejour annually hosts the
Canadian Power Toboggan Championships (last weekend in March) which
includes cabarets and other festivities. Other annual events in
Beausejour include an Agricultural Fair, Down Town Days, Winter
Farewell, and the Double “B” rodeo. The Manitoba Glass Works
Historical Site, and a museum complex offer quieter entertainment in
Beausejour. Within driving distance are the Whiteshell, Grand
Beach, and Birds Hill Provincial Parks. Recreational facilities in
Beausejour include 2 nine-hole golf courses, baseball diamonds, an
ice arena, curling rink, a power toboggan/motor-cross track, an
outdoor swimming pool, and a movie theatre and bowling lanes.
The Brokenhead River
Recreation Complex has complete indoor facilities for groups up to
1,000 people. This facility is the third largest indoor convention
facility in Manitoba. Beausejour is soon to be home to the SunGro
Centre which will be one of the top Sprotsplex facilities in the
province.
